since Everest Transmission was established
in 1980 with the manufacturing facility of Twin
Lobe Rotary Air Blowers, it has grown leaps and
bounds. It has since expanded its technological
base, bringing a wide range of products. Situated
in a modern facility in New Delhi, the company
is ISO 9001-certified for its Twin Lobe Rotary
Air Blowers which attests its quality. Facilities
include in-house design, production, manufacturing,
quality, control, inspection and after sales service.
A focus on innovative design and high quality
machined parts has earned Everest a reputation
for excellent workmanship among its users. For
nearly two decades Everest has offered its customers
qualitative and cost-effective machines necessary
to meet the changing technology. Engineering Advances
spoke to the company on a range of topics. Excerpts:
How strong
is Mechanical Vacuum Boosters and Roots blowers
business in India ?
As on date, based
on the available data the Booster and Roots Blower
industry is not very large as compared to other
industrial segments. The total market would be
just around Rs. 50-60 crore. This is primarily
due to the fact the Indian industry was not very
conscious about modernization and up-gradation.
However the scenario is changing rapidly thanks
to the growing concern of pollution control, water
and wastewater treatment and energy efficient
systems. This can be gauged from the fact that
even during a period of recession there has been
a substantial growth in this sector.
How are you
positioned in the current industry scenario ?
We are the pioneers
in the segment as we are the only manufacturer
for Mechanical Vacuum Boosters with successful
installations covering various segments such as
research and development labs, metalising plants,
distillation plants and other industrial sectors.
Our application-oriented R&D has made it possible
to cover wider areas of application offering cost
effective and energy efficient solutions thus
creating larger market demand for our product.
Although the market is under recession and under
constant pressure to cut costs, we are going strong
as our efforts are helping them to achieve this
objective.
Globalisation
has opened the doors of India to multinationals.
How do you face the new challenges arisen out
of it ?
Globalisation has
its own advantages if we look at it positively.
It has forced the Indian industry to restructure
to enable them to produce quality goods at competitive
rates to withstand international challenges. Our
equipment requires application engineering and
technology for which our engineering team is very
competitive. We just don't offer blowers and pumps
but offer customized solution making it difficult
for multinationals to make a dent in our hold.
How
about the unorganized sector ?
Roots Blowers and
Mechanical Vacuum booster pumps are precision
pumps and require high capital costs and technical
skills that have kept the unorganized sector at
relatively low levels.
What have
been your recent major achievements ?
Amongst the major
achievements for which we are both proud and happy
are of having exported our mechanical booster
pumps to advanced countries such as USA, Singapore
and France against stiff global competition. We
were able to meet their strigent technical requirements
with our ISO 9000 support mechanism. We were also
able to meet the technical requirement of the
Research Cell of Department of Atomic Energy,
CAT, Indore was the major achievement of our engineering
and technical team.
