Everest
Transmission, pioneers in Vacuum boosters and
blowers, is perhaps the country’s largest
manufacturer of twin lobe rotary air & gas
blowers and mechanical Vacuum boosters. Its pioneering
role in the Vacuum boosters and blower technology
is evident from its number of landmark achievements.
Some of them being – it is the first to
introduce boosters in the Indian Chemical Industry;
first to introduce aqua series blowers specially
crafted for fish and prawn culture; first Indian
manufacturer to take up customer education through
regular technical documents, write-ups and application
notes; first blower manufacturer to receive Quality
Management System certified to ISO 9001:2000 standard;
first to introduce dry vane pumps in the country
and probably the only manufacturer exporting blowers
and boosters to advanced countries like US and
UK.
Broad product line
Everest commenced manufacturing
of twin lobe rotary air blowers, way backing 1980;
since then the company has consistently strengthened
its technology base, producing a wide range of
products. This broad product line includes air
blowers, water cooled blowers, gas blowers, mechanical
Vacuum booster pumps, aqua series air blowers,
dry vane pumps, acoustic hoods and enclosures.
These wide-ranging products and technical expertise
gained over the years have enabled Everest to
serve various segments of industry such as water
treatment plants, effluent treatment plants, cement
plants, aquaculture plants, chemical plants, paper
plants, Vacuum plants and systems and pneumatic
conveying systems. Some of its prestigious clients
include Indian Space Research Organization, Centre
for Advanced Technology, Mishra Dhatu Nigam, NTPC,
Maruti Udyog, Honda Siel, Hero Honda, Grasim,
Cadbury, LG Polymers, Ion Exchange (India) Ltd.,
Thermax, Aurobindo Pharma, KLJ, Wockhardt, Heinz
India, Vam Organics, SmithKline Beecham etc.
The blowers find wide use in applications
requiring medium pressure air such as aeration
in sewage treatment & effluent treatment plants,
filter backwash, agitation of electrolyte, pneumatic
conveying, regeneration of dryers & molecular
sieves, maintaining BOD of water for prawn and
fish culture, paper plants, etc. Dry Vane Pumps
find use in small chemical mixing plants, STP’s,
electroplating plants, swimming pool filtration
units, fluidized bed furnaces, etc. The mechanical
Vacuum booster, a sophisticated piece of machinery
developed by the company, finds use in chemical
& pharmaceutical processes, bulb & tube
light production, roll & object metallising,
vegetable oil deodorization, solvent recovery,
Vacuum drying, tray drying, Vacuum distillation,
thin film deposition, molecular distillation,
Vacuum furnace, transformer oil dehumidification,
chemical laser, evaporative cooling, etc.
Manufacturing facilities
Everest has two state-of-the-art
production facilities in New Delhi and Bahadurgarh
(Haryana) manufacturing blowers, boosters and
pumps. Both the units are ISO 9001:2000 certified
and operate independently. While the unit at New
Delhi manufactures blowers from 15 HP onwards
and mechanical Vacuum boosters, the unit at Haryana
produces small blowers up to 15 HP and dry vane
pumps. The facilities include in-house design,
manufacturing, quality control, inspection and
after sales service. A lot of emphasis is imparted
to training since the organization believes in
its personnel as its most valuable asset. As a
result, every individual undergoes atleast 36
hours of training every quarter, which is also
one of the quality objectives of the company.
The other two being enhancement in turnover by
atleast 20% per annum and two new developments
related to products or applications every year.
Global presence
Everest is committed to total customer
satisfaction in terms of quality and services
for the entire range of its products. This commitment
has contributed to the company’s market
leadership in its field of business. Due to Everest’s
quality consciousness, its blowers have received
approval from leading national and international
consultants such as Bechtel, Daelim, Mitsubishi,
NTPC, BHEL, Tata Projects and BSES – to
name a few, for their various projects. Also in
international markets, the company’s products
have received remarkable recognition. Everest
exports its products to various countries like
USA, Singapore, UK, Australia, UAE, Iraq, Maldives,
Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
Furthermore, the company is in the process of
appointing stockists in USA, UK, Singapore and
Australia.
Engineering expertise
Everest’s core competence
lies in custom manufacturing special air blowers
and boosters by alloying and cross-linking diverse
designs to suit specific requirements and import
substitutes. It has built an expert technical
team that has years of application associated
experience and has developed capability to help
serve the customers with effective solutions.
As the company ably serves the Original Equipment
Manufacturers (OEM’s), it has gained in-depth
knowledge of the critical requirements of OEM
applications, in terms of power, space, noise,
airflow, vibration, cost and more. With reference
to standard models of air blowers and Vacuum pumps,
the company, through its unique design and engineering
expertise, can develop a completely new model,
or modify the existing design. The outcome is
a custom air blower or Vacuum pump that meets
the exact requirements of OEM application at lowest
possible cost.
Over the period of two decades,
application engineering has been the cornerstone
of Everest’s success. Its strength has been
to work on new application areas and modify existing
areas so as to reduce energy consumption, optimize
performance and increase efficiency. On account
of many such new developments and applications,
the company has carved a niche for itself in the
equipment industry, offering customized solutions.
Some of the developments include:
• 100% Oil free aqua series blowers for
fish and prawn culture. Modifications have been
made to ensure 100% oil free air supply even under
worst conditions of oil seal failure.
• Development of Vacuum boosters with PTFE
seals for nitrobenzene and ortho- nitrobenzene
vapour handling in solvent recovery application.
The use of modified boosters has resulted in process
time reduction by almost 50%.
• Development of dry rotary vane blowers
for low capacity, medium pressure applications,
which were long time demand of small ETP plants.
• Development of SS blowers with special
sealing for mechanical vapour compression for
heat recovery resulting in substantial energy
saving.
• Engine driven blower package units developed
to meet the demands of Indian Railways, which
are used for thermit welding of railway tracks.
• Menthol distillation process improved
by installation of Vacuum booster resulting in
higher yield and product purity. The modification
received an impressive response and today practically
all menthol distillation units have Everest boosters
as an integral part of the plant.
Expanding the horizons
Everest’s application oriented
R&D has made it possible to cover wider areas
of application offering cost effective and energy
efficient solutions thus creating larger market
demands for its product. As a result, even during
the period of recession, the company has posted
consistent growth rate. This year it expects a
growth of not less than 25-30%. Buoyed by the
success in the domestic industry, Everest now
plans to capture international markets. “International
penetration is the current target. All resources
are being mobilized to ensure standardization,
product reliability, and inter-changeability to
make product of internationally acceptable quality,”
says Yash Pal Kapur, Managing Director of the
company.
Through innovative designs
and high quality products, Everest has exemplified
a noteworthy workmanship in the equipment industry.
The increasing demand for environment-friendly
and energy efficient products with customized
designs will surely put Everest, with its application
engineering expertise and international acclaim,
in good lead!
